The Northern Territory opens up with Jetstar announcing new Darwin to Gold Coast route

"This new route strengthens connectivity for the Territory, opening up more travel and tourism opportunities while supporting local businesses."

Airport Development Group is thrilled to support Jetstar’s new Darwin to Gold Coast route which has been made possible with the support of the Northern Territory Government’s Territory Aviation Attraction Scheme (TAAS).

Jetstar will operate four direct flights per week on its Airbus A320 aircraft, with the inaugural flight being 26 June 2025.

Ticket sales with one-way sale fares available from $109^ will go on sale from midday ACST (1.30pm AEDT) on Thursday 6 February 2025, at www.jetstar.com

The new route will enhance connectivity between the Northern Territory and Queensland, providing more opportunities for tourism, business, and family travel between the two regions. This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to expand air travel options and support the growth of the Territory’s economy.

Tony Edmondstone, Chief Executive Officer, Airport Development Group said: “We are delighted to see Jetstar expanding its network to include direct services between Darwin and the Gold Coast.

This new route strengthens connectivity for the Territory, opening up more travel and tourism opportunities while supporting local businesses.

We look forward to welcoming more visitors and providing Territorians with greater travel options.

Amelia Evans, Chief Executive Officer, Queensland Airports Limited said: “The new service is a win for convenient connectivity, enabling people to more easily unite with their family and friends”.

We’re delighted to welcome Jetstar’s Darwin service to Gold Coast Airport – an important direct connection to the Northern Territory.

“This new service will enable travellers to enjoy the two destinations more easily, without the need for time-consuming transits.”

Providing more convenient travel options will encourage people to hop on a plane and try out a new city, bringing significant economic and tourism boosts to our local areas,” Ms Evans said.

The Gold Coast – Darwin service will provide a seamless connection for travellers looking to experience the best of both regions, from the stunning beaches of the Gold Coast to the vibrant culture and natural beauty of the Northern Territory.

Jetstar CEO, Stephanie Tully said it’s great to be providing more budget friendly holiday options for customers.

This new seasonal service will provide a direct connection between Darwin and the Gold Coast, eliminating the need for people to transit through other cities and making it much easier and affordable for travellers to fly between the Northern Territory and Queensland,” Ms Tully said.

"Darwin and the Gold Coast are not only amazing cities in their own right but they’re also gateways to spectacular holiday regions - with unique wildlife, stunning scenery and beautiful beaches and swimming spots.

“We thank the Northern Territory Government, Airport Development Group and Gold Coast Airport for their support in launching this new route,” Ms Tully said.
