The ‘Darwin Digeridoo’, has been awarded a silver in the prestigious Australian Street Art Awards, in the ‘Entrance Art’ category.
The former 41 meter water tower has been transformed into a cultural landmark representing Larrakia dreamtime stories.
Larrakia artist Tony Duwan Lee’s dreamtime stories were painted on the tower over a two week period.
The Darwin Digeridoo stands at the entry to the Mercure Darwin Airport Resort adjacent to Darwin International Airport, and Airport Development Group has plans to add lighting and audio.
