A Fantastic Week of Athletics Celebrated in Darwin as Airport Development Group Hosts Official Championships Reception

Airport Development Group (ADG) has proudly supported the 2026 Oceania Athletics Championships, reinforcing Darwin’s position as an emerging destination for international sport and major events.

The Championships commenced on Monday 18 May at Arafura Stadium, marking one of the largest international sporting events ever hosted in the Northern Territory.

ADG executives attended the official Opening Ceremony and participated in the medal ceremony joining thousands of spectators as athletes proudly entered the stadium as flag bearers for their nations, a powerful demonstration of the Territory’s growing global sporting capability.

Supporting Athletes Beyond Competition

A standout contribution from ADG has been the Airport Development Group Athlete’s Zone, a dedicated wellbeing space supporting competitors throughout the Championships.

With Dame Valerie Adams DNZM serving as Patron, the Athlete’s Zone provides athletes with a welcoming environment to relax, recover and connect following competition.

Feedback from teams and officials has recognised the Zone as a tremendous support initiative, reinforcing ADG’s commitment to delivering exceptional visitor experiences beyond aviation operations.
