Work has commenced on Darwin’s newest Guzman y Gomez (GYG) Mexican Kitchen, with construction now underway at the Darwin Airport Central precinct ahead of a planned mid-2027 opening.

The new GYG will be located on Neale Street across the road from Kingpin, adding another food and beverage offering to this growing part of the precinct.

The new GYG will give Territorians, travellers and the thousands of people who work in and visit Darwin Airport Central another dining option, serving GYG’s fresh, Mexican-inspired menu.

The arrival of GYG marks another milestone in Airport Development Group’s long-term vision for Darwin Airport Central, creating a vibrant and diverse destination that extends well beyond the airport terminal.

ADG Executive General Manager Property Tristan Cribb said GYG was a welcome addition to the growing precinct.

“We are really pleased to welcome Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen to the Darwin Airport Central precinct,” Mr Cribb said.

Our vision is to create a precinct that serves the Darwin community well beyond the airport terminal, with a growing mix of places to work, shop, access services, eat and connect.

“GYG is a great addition to that mix and will provide another convenient food option for people working in and visiting the precinct.”

GYG has more than 280 locations across Australia, Japan and Singapore and is known for its fresh, Mexican-inspired menu.

A GYG spokesperson said: “Darwin Airport Central is a busy, accessible precinct, and it gives us another way to serve Territorians and travellers the fresh, made-to-order Mexican food GYG is known for.

“Our guests in Darwin already love GYG, and we can’t wait to serve the commuters, travellers and locals who are in and out of the precinct every day.”

Construction is now commencing, with the new Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen planned to open in mid-2027.

Further details on the opening will be announced closer to completion.
