ADG and Darwin Symphony Orchestra Bring Music and Connection to Territory Communities

Airport Development Group (ADG) is continuing its partnership with the Darwin Symphony Orchestra (DSO), supporting programs that use music to connect communities, inspire young people and create opportunities for Territorians to participate in arts and culture.

The partnership supports DSO’s outreach, education and family programs across the Northern Territory, with a particular focus on regional and remote communities.

Over the past year, DSO’s outreach programs have taken music beyond the concert hall, including the Choose Your Own Adventure program, which travelled through the Barkly region to Elliott, Wutunugurra (Epenarra), Canteen Creek and Tennant Creek.

Through workshops and performances, more than 350 students, teachers, school staff and community members experienced live music, worked alongside professional musicians and explored creativity and self-expression. All activities were delivered free of charge.

ADG Executive General Manager People, Culture and Community Sandra de Kock said the partnership reflected ADG’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and create positive social impact.

The partnership will also support DSO’s family-focused Score! event on 24 October, exploring the connection between music, sport and wellbeing.

The event will bring together DSO musicians, Hoops 4 Health and CDU Sports Fitness and Recreation, encouraging children and young people to participate in activities that promote creativity, healthy lifestyles and social connection.

DSO General Manager Paul Christ said ADG’s ongoing support helped the orchestra reach more Territorians with meaningful arts experiences.

“From remote outreach programs such as Choose Your Own Adventure to family events like Score!, this partnership helps us reduce some of the barriers that distance can create and gives people opportunities to connect through music, learning and wellbeing, regardless of where they live.”
