ADG Recognised for Contribution to Territory Supply Chains and Economic Growth

Airport Development Group (ADG) has been recognised at the 2026 Northern Territory Export and Business Awards, taking home the Logistics and Supply Chain Award in recognition of the organisation’s broader contribution to the Territory’s economy, connectivity, and supply chain resilience.

The award recognises a Northern Territory business operating within the logistics and supply chain sector that demonstrates capability, innovation and sustained contribution to supply chain and sustainment outcomes.

The achievement is particularly significant in a record year for the awards, with a record number of entries received across the 2026 program.

Through Darwin International Airport, Alice Springs Airport and Tennant Creek Airport, ADG connects Territory businesses, industries, and communities to domestic and international markets, supporting tourism, trade, investment, freight, and regional development.

ADG’s airports form an essential component of the Territory’s logistics and supply chain network, supporting freight movements critical to industries including mining, energy, defence, agriculture, seafood and healthcare.

Over the past two years, ADG has delivered significant growth in aviation connectivity, securing new domestic and international services including Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Guangzhou, Bali, Dili, Gold Coast, Perth and Cairns.

At Darwin International Airport, international capacity increased by approximately 46 per cent in 2025 compared with the previous year, strengthening the Territory’s links with key domestic and international markets.

This growth has been delivered against a challenging aviation environment, including airline fleet shortages, rising operating costs, competition between destinations for aircraft allocation and uncertainty across global aviation markets.

ADG responded by strengthening collaboration with airline partners, government, and tourism stakeholders, developing market intelligence and business cases and working to both attract and sustain new services.

The benefits extend beyond aviation. Improved connectivity creates opportunities for Territory tourism operators, exporters, hospitality businesses, educators, logistics providers and investors, while ADG’s focus on local procurement and partnerships helps keep economic benefits within the Territory.

ADG actively seeks opportunities to engage Territory businesses in procurement and project delivery, supporting local capability and helping retain the economic benefits of infrastructure investment within the Territory.

The award also recognises ADG’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and resilient aviation infrastructure across its three-airport network.

Safety remains ADG’s highest operational priority, supported by comprehensive Safety Management Systems, workforce training, emergency exercises, infrastructure investment and a strong reporting and continuous improvement culture.

Alongside safety, ADG continues to invest in sustainability, environmental management, workforce development and community partnerships, contributing to long-term economic and social outcomes for the Territory.
