ADG Appoints New CEO

Airport Development Group (ADG) has appointed Matthew (Matt) Cameron-Smith as Chief Executive Officer, commencing 1 February 2027
Mr Cameron-Smith, who will relocate to Darwin, brings extensive executive leadership experience across tourism, hospitality and commercial operations. Currently with Journey Beyond and previously CEO of Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia and of AAT Kings, Matt has held a range of executive leadership roles across the tourism and travel sectors.
ADG Chair Mike Mrdak said the appointment followed a rigorous Board succession process and would support ADG's continued focus on the long-term development of its Northern Territory airports network and diversified business portfolio.
"Matt brings a strong combination of commercial leadership, tourism expertise and a deep appreciation of the Northern Territory's visitor economy and connectivity," Mr Mrdak said.
"The Board is confident he will build on the strong foundations established at ADG and work closely with our people, customers, industry and stakeholders to support the continued growth of our airports, tourism and commercial assets and the Territory economy."
"Importantly, Matt will relocate to Darwin and is looking forward to becoming an active contributor to the Territory community."
The Board is confident he will build on the strong foundations established at ADG and work closely with our people, customers, industry and stakeholders to support the continued growth of our airports, tourism and commercial assets and the Territory economy.
Mr Cameron-Smith will undertake a structured transition program, providing the opportunity to deepen his understanding of ADG's role in aviation, tourism, property, Defence, government, national security and critical infrastructure.
The appointment marks a planned leadership transition following almost seven years under current CEO Tony Edmondstone.
Mr Mrdak acknowledged Mr Edmondstone's significant contribution to ADG.
"Tony has provided dedicated leadership to ADG over the past seven years, making a lasting contribution to the organisation, our airports, tourism assets and diversified business portfolios, and our relationships across government, industry and the community," he said.
"On behalf of the Board, our shareholders and our people, I thank Tony for his commitment, leadership and service."
Mr Edmondstone will continue to support ADG during the transition period.
Mr Cameron-Smith said he was excited to join ADG and make Darwin home. "I am delighted to be joining Airport Development Group and relocating to Darwin" Mr Cameron-Smith said.
"ADG plays a critical role in connecting the Northern Territory with Australia and the world, while supporting tourism, trade, Defence and economic development."
"I look forward to working with the ADG team, our customers and stakeholders, and getting to know the communities we serve."
ADG operates Darwin International Airport, Alice Springs Airport and Tennant Creek Airport.
