Historic First Aero Dili Flight Touches Down in Darwin, Strengthening Ties Between Australia and Timor-Leste
Airport Development Group and Aero Dili today celebrated a historic milestone with the arrival of Aero Dili's inaugural service between Dili and Darwin, marking the airline's first-ever flight to Australia and creating a new chapter in aviation connectivity between the Northern Territory and Timor-Leste.
The inaugural service represents a significant achievement for both nations, strengthening economic, tourism, cultural and business ties between Australia and its closest neighbour in the Asia-Pacific region.
The new route provides Territorians with greater access to Timor-Leste and onward international connections, while also creating new opportunities for tourism, trade, education, investment, and people-to-people links.
The Northern Territory’s aviation connectivity with Asia is a priority and the introduction of Aero Dili reinforces this strategic position.
